The holidays are over, and 2010 is shaping up to be a year full of great programming, funny commercials, and strategically placed promotional products interspersed in both sitcoms and advertisements. Cell phones continually play a significant role on shows like Gossip Girl, which has successfully integrated text messaging and product placement into its marketing efforts, and Desperate Housewives, which runs ads mimicking themes discussed on the show during commercial breaks. Promotional products have a greater impact when enjoyed by characters featured on popular shows, as the characters themselves are admired and respected by millions of viewers.
